Myanmar & Thailand Earthquake

Overview

On March 28, 2025, a massive 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Myanmar's city of Mandalay, followed by a devastating 6.4 aftershock. The quake trapped hundreds of people inside destroyed buildings and rubble, with rescue crews working around the clock to free survivors. The earthquake was felt across Southeast Asia, causing significant damage in neighboring Thailand as well. The ongoing political instability in Myanmar severely complicated relief efforts, with access restrictions limiting international humanitarian response.
